Human Resources Director

Director of Human Resources (Manufacturing)

We are partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead both strategic and operational HR initiatives at a site of approximately 450 employees. Reporting to the General Manager, this role will serve as a key member of the leadership team, shaping workforce strategy, driving organizational effectiveness, and fostering a high-performance culture. This is a hands-on leadership position with significant visibility, responsible for leading a team and influencing business outcomes through people strategies. The ideal candidate brings both strategic perspective and the willingness to roll up their sleeves to execute.

Onsite Role: Columbia SC, (Some relocation assistance available)

Experience: 5+ years of recent manufacturing HR in a senior level role - a must

Key Responsibility

  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and execute HR strategies aligned with business goals and organizational growth
  • Lead workforce planning, talent management, and employee engagement initiatives to support operational needs
  • Design and manage total rewards programs, including compensation, benefits, and recognition offerings
  • Oversee recruiting strategies and processes to attract and retain high-quality talent
  • Build relationships with local schools and workforce pipelines to strengthen talent acquisition efforts
  • Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and engagement initiatives
  • Drive communication strategies to ensure alignment and transparency across the workforce
  • Implement and oversee performance management systems and continuous feedback processes
  • Identify skill gaps and lead training, development, and leadership programs across the organization
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Establish and refine HR policies, processes, and procedures to support operational excellence
  • Lead and develop a team of HR professionals, with the opportunity to restructure and optimize the function

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing HR teams
  • HR certification (SHRM-SCP or SPHR) strongly preferred; CCP or CBP a plus
  • Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a dynamic environment
  • Strong knowledge of compensation, benefits, and 401(k) administration
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, talent management, and workforce planning
  • Ability to influence and challenge senior leadership, including experience operating at the executive level
  • Strong business acumen, with experience managing budgets, KPIs, and HR metrics
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
