Canal Barge Company / Illinois Marine TowingJOB DESCRIPTIONJunior Buyer / Warehouse AssociateI. BASIC FUNCTIONThe primary function is to assist with procurement of goods and services for vessels and internal customers. The Junior Buyer / Warehouse Associate is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly warehouse.II. RESPONSIBILITIES1. Purchase items ranging from groceries for the vessels to marine and safety supplies.2. Assist in requesting RFQs for procurement of supplies needed for all internal customers.3. Assist with identifying potential vendors.4. Develop and maintain vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery of products and services.5. Collaborate with other departments to determine procurement needs.6. Review and approve purchase orders according to company policies and procedures.7. Follow-up on all Purchase Orders issued for timely delivery and track back-ordered purchases.8. Receive Purchase Orders within the ERP system as needed9. Handle routine expedites and track deliveries.10. Responsible for warehouse inventory11. Manage internal catalog with updated pricing and setting up new items accordingly.12. Work cross-functionally between buying and warehouse operations.13. Arrange for service, maintenance, and cleanliness of all Illinois Marine Towing company vehicles.14. Provide delivery (driving) for Canal Barge Company and Illinois Marine Towing vessels, as needed.15. Process invoices in the On Base software program and investigate/correct invoices as needed in support of the Accounting Department.16. Perform other duties as required and directed by the Purchasing Manager.Other1. Experience in procurement functions is required2. Experience in standard office machines.3. One year’s experience in Procurement or Purchasing2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and vendors3. Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment4. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail5. High school diploma, or equivalent6. Ability to drive a forklift (with certification)7. Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history8. Must possess or be able to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)VI. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis position requires frequent lifting and carrying objects weighing 40 lbs. minimum. This role requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, and stooping.VII.
