Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer

Professional Summary The Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer will play a key role in supporting HVAC cooling and heat pump equipment development, developing qualification plans for systems and components, and ensuring product requirements and agency certifications are met. The candidate will actively participate in the New Product Development process, applying state‑of‑the‑art design and simulation tools to optimize the release of next generation HVAC/R equipment for building applications. Key Responsibilities Responsible for a sub‑project of a major new product development program or the entire scope of a smaller new product development program. Provide expertise in heat transfer, thermodynamics, fan systems, and thermal management system analysis in the development of next generation high efficiency and environmentally friendly HVAC/R and electronic control systems. Develop and execute test and qualification plans for systems, sub‑systems, and components; review test results against design specifications and modify equipment as necessary. Provide reliability analysis of components and systems. Develop and coordinate engineering documents and release. Provide daily directions to supporting designers and technicians. Prepare presentations for Qualification Review Boards, demonstrating the use of Quality System deployment tools. Collaborate with team members from Marketing, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering. Document process improvements as part of standard engineering work. Identify reliable and cost‑effective purchased components required for new product development projects. Maintain excellent follow‑up and follow‑through skills. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline with at least 5 years of hands‑on experience in an engineering design environment, or Master of Science with at least 3 years of hands‑on experience. Willing and able to travel up to two times per year, including international (Mexico) or domestic travel. Preferred Qualifications Experience or familiarity with various HVAC applications. Demonstrated system design thinking and creative new product design skills. Experience with vapor‑compression refrigeration or power generation systems, including heat exchangers and compression technologies. Project management and interpersonal skills; ability to work within an engineering design team. Working knowledge of manufacturing fabrication and assembly methods. Experience in continual process improvement. Experience with model‑based design techniques. Experience integrating and verifying and validating performance of complex systems. Ability to work with minimal supervision in a lean and fast‑paced environment. Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams and a diverse cultural environment. Ability to professionally engage with cross‑functional and cross‑regional teams to translate product requirements into hardware and control system requirements. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts across technical and non‑technical organizations. Ambitious self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced design environment. Ability to develop continuous improvement projects to influence and drive change. Demonstrated ability to deliver successful designs under tight timing constraints. Highly organized with strong attention to detail while managing multiple priorities. Knowledge of CSA/ANSI and UL Standards is a plus (AHRI, ASHRAE, DOE, EPA, NEC, UL/CSA). Knowledge of SAP and Creo. Familiarity with heat pumps. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of model development software tools such as Ansys/Fluent is a strong differentiator. Experience in thermo‑fluid system control development. Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, Visual Basic, C/C++, and Python. Compensation Pay Range: $79,000.00 – $158,000.00 annually, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
