Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Kearney, Nebraska. This role involves providing critical patient care on a 33-bed unit with an average daily census of 16 patients. The RN will manage a diverse patient population including trauma, cardiac, overdose, substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress patients. The position is scheduled for 12-hour night shifts, requiring a minimum of 48 hours per week, with every other weekend work and certification requirements including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.

Job Details:

• Location: Kearney, Nebraska
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with at least 48 hours per week and every other weekend required. Self-scheduling available for core staff; travel staff scheduling is subject to availability.
• Required Qualifications: Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications; minimum of 2 years of experience in an intensive care setting; Nebraska RN license; valid Driver's license; experience in adult critical care including titration of cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation; ability to troubleshoot ventilators such as nasal cannula to vent.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing trauma, cardiac, stroke, vascular cases, and renal failure patients; familiarity with GE monitors and telemetry interpretation.
• Floats: Float rotation may be required, typically to progressive care or medical-surgical units, maintaining patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5.
• Department Notes: The unit mainly cares for trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, and other complex cases. RN staff are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips and managing various ventilator equipment, including Vents, Cpap, BiPap, and High Flow devices.
• Additional Information: Artificial nails are prohibited; RN candidates must pass a pass/fail skills exam during orientation with a minimum of 90%. Blocked scheduling is limited to weekends only and sharing schedules or carpooling requests are not approved. Upfront RTO of 7 days or less within a 13-week contract is permitted; additional RTO will not be approved. Up to four shifts may be canceled per 13-week assignment by the facility. Charting is done via EPIC.
