Representative Role OverviewA leading investment bank or corporate development team may seek an M&A Origination Specialist to actively source and generate potential merger and acquisition opportunities, manage client relationships, and coordinate internal deal teams . This role is ideal for candidates who want to combine strategic business development with exposure to live M&A transactions .
Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify, source, and cultivate potential M&A opportunities with corporate clients and industry partners
Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective deals, tracking deal flow and opportunity status
Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and benchmarking to inform transaction strategy
Collaborate with senior bankers or deal teams to structure transactions and assess potential value
Prepare pitch materials, investment memoranda, and client-facing presentations
Coordinate due diligence processes and data room management as needed
Maintain relationships with clients, intermediaries, and industry stakeholders to support ongoing business development
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline
Strong analytical and research skills with an ability to assess strategic opportunities
Excellent relationship management and communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple sourcing and deal pipelines simultaneously
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills
Prior internship or experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or consulting is beneficial
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, CRM, and financial research tools
