Ambulatory Float Pool - Patient Services Rep II

Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift; Shift varies based on assignment. Purpose Statement/Position Summary: As a part of the Ambulatory Float Pool, the Patient Service Representative II provides smooth outpatient flow resulting in optimum patient satisfaction and clinic operation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate appointments and assist patients and families as needed. Participates in a variety of duties associated with daily clinic preparation process, from customer service, message distribution, appointment scheduling, encounter registration, referrals management, financial clearance and verification. Must be highly flexible, adaptable, enthusiastic, have a proactive approach, work efficiently and effectively under pressure in a team environment. Coordinates ancillary services, consultations, and referrals ordered for patients. Answers and screens incoming calls, takes and relays messages to clinicians. In instances of short staffing and high demand/peak times when ambulatory clinics require staffing to ensure smooth operations, the Ambulatory Float Pool - Patient Service Representative II would assist in coverage of assuming the duties of Ambulatory Float Pool - Patient Service Rep I. Required: Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 3 years experience in customer service, with 1 of those years in a medical office setting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and telephone manner. Must be highly flexible, adaptable, enthusiastic, have a proactive approach, work efficiently and effectively under pressure in a team environment. Must be comfortable with computers and medical terminology. Knowledge of major insurance plans and types of coverage provided, including government health programs. Preferred: 2 years experience in a medical office setting. Previous experience in float pool setting. Bilingual in English/Spanish. This position requires traveling to all CHLA clinics depending on need. Hours may vary depending on assignments. Required: Education/Licensure/Certification: High School Diploma or GED.
