The district serves 6,300 students in grades kindergarten through 12 and offers free preschool in district schools. We are proud of the work we do, and we love the community in which we live. Student achievement across the district has steadily improved over the past dozen years, boosted by robust competitive grant awards that fund many STEAM programs for students, both during and beyond the school day and school year. In 2014, the district was named a National STEM Showcase district by the U.S. Department of Education, one of just three districts across the country to be recognized. The Oregonian has repeatedly singled out the district for its "laser-like focus" on research-based instructional practices and professional learning, success with English language learners, and for its graduation rate, which is among the highest in the state.
