Field Operations Manager, SOLitude

Field Operations Manager – overseeing on‑site lake management operations across multiple sites. Responsible for coordinating field activities, managing crews, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering high‑quality lake management projects. Responsibilities Lead and oversee all aspects of field operations, including aquatic vegetation management, water quality monitoring, fishery management, and erosion control projects. Manage and motivate field crews, including technicians and seasonal staff, to ensure efficient, effective performance and provide training and support. Serve as primary point of contact for clients at project sites, building and maintaining strong client relationships. Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices; conduct regular inspections and audits. Promote a culture of safety and adherence to safety protocols among field staff; identify and mitigate potential safety hazards and conduct safety meetings. Manage resources effectively, including equipment, materials, and manpower, to optimize project outcomes and minimize costs; coordinate equipment maintenance and repair schedules. Assist in the development and management of project budgets; monitor expenditures and identify cost‑saving opportunities. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits governing lake management activities; implement environmentally sustainable practices and minimize ecological impacts. Candidate Requirements Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in project management principles and techniques, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Knowledge of aquatic ecosystem dynamics, water chemistry, and relevant regulatory requirements. Experience operating and maintaining equipment used in lake management activities (boats, herbicide applicators, water quality monitoring instruments). Familiarity with GIS software and other relevant technology tools is a plus. Willingness to travel to project sites as needed. Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence. Education Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Natural Resource Management, or related field highly desired; Master’s degree preferred. Experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience in lake management, aquatic ecology, or related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Comfortable working in and around water bodies, including swimming. Agility to navigate uneven terrain safely and adherence to safety protocols using PPE. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record may be required. Clear verbal and written communication skills.
