RN Clinical Nurse II - Family Planning

Summary: The Clinical Nurse II provides comprehensive, patient‑centered nursing care within the Family Planning Clinic and hospital‑based reproductive health procedures. Responsibilities include patient assessment, education, procedural support, perioperative care, triage, and coordination of follow‑up services. The Clinical Nurse II practices in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and delivers trauma‑informed, inclusive, and confidential care. Responsibilities: Family Planning Clinic Provide contraceptive counseling, pregnancy testing, STI screening, and patient education. Assist with IUD insertions/removals, Nexplanon procedures, and routine gynecologic care. Perform nursing assessments, administer medications, and document care in the EMR. Moderate Sedation Provide nursing care for patients receiving moderate sedation in accordance with institutional policies and protocols. Perform pre‑sedation assessments and monitor patients during and after procedures. Document all sedation‑related care in the EMR and respond appropriately to patient needs or changes in condition. Reproductive Health Procedures Provide perioperative nursing care for reproductive health procedures performed in the operating room. Participate in pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative nursing care and recovery. Provide trauma‑informed emotional support and patient education throughout the perioperative experience. Adhere to all institutional policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Cross‑Training Participate in cross‑training with Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) services as needed to support patient care and clinic operations. Preferences Experience in OB/GYN, Family Planning, and/or Women’s Health. Experience with Epic or similar electronic medical record systems. Other Information Education Requirements Graduation from a school of professional nursing. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Nursing or a Master’s degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
