PAYROLL SPECIALIST

City of Edinburg in Edinburg, TX is actively seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to prepare and processes payroll on a biweekly/monthly/annual basis, including preparing and submitting all applicable State and Federal payroll-related reports. This Payroll Specialist position earns competitive pay of $ 15.05/ hourly. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PAYROLL SPECIALIST

As a Payroll Specialist, you spend your processes payroll checks and reports. Other duties include adding applicable wage garnishment, verifies W-4s and HR benefits open enrollment data on an annual basis. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include assisting with preparation of the year end payroll forms and reports. You also assist with responding to customer inquiries regarding account status and payments. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in customer service, and you find genuine enjoyment in what you do!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PAYROLL SPECIALIST

High school diploma, GED or equivalency.

• • Preferred: Associates Degree in related field

• Requires one (1) year of experience in computerized payroll and financial accounting systems.
• Requires one (1) year experience in data entry, bookkeeping and personal computers.
  • Preferred: Two (2) years' experience in computerized payroll and financial accounting systems.
  • Two (2) years' experience in data entry, bookkeeping and personal computers.
• Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
• Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
