Make a meaningful difference in the lives of high school students by supporting their academic growth and personal development as a Special Education Teacher on a full-time contract assignment. This opportunity is based near New Haven, CT and focuses on both resource room support and co-teaching in a high school setting. As a vital partner in the classroom, you will collaborate with general education teachers and help implement individualized educational plans to foster student success.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (required)
- Experience working with high school students in special education settings
- Familiarity with resource room and co-teaching models
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with staff, students, and families
- Organizational skills for regular progress monitoring and data collection
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and educational support to high school students with diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt lessons and classroom activities in co-teaching environments
- Develop, review, and implement IEPs tailored to individual student goals
- Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that nurtures student engagement and self-advocacy
- Monitor student progress, adjust strategies as needed, and communicate results with families and staff
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to all relevant policies and guidelines
