Registered Nurse - Oncology

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse provides specialized patient care for oncology patients, focusing on leukemia and lymphoma in an inpatient setting. They assess, plan, and implement nursing interventions to support patient recovery and comfort while collaborating with physicians.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patient conditions through initial and ongoing assessments, identifying needs and priorities.
• Develop and coordinate individualized care plans based on patient assessments and physician diagnoses.
• Perform therapeutic nursing interventions, including IV insertion and phlebotomy.
• Document patient care accurately, adhering to standards of practice and clinical priorities.
• Advocate for evidence-based care standards and support innovative practices in oncology nursing.
• Manage comprehensive patient care, ensuring safety, comfort, and adherence to treatment protocols.

Qualifications:

• Hold an ASN or higher nursing degree; BSN preferred.
• Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in acute adult oncology, specializing in leukemia and lymphoma.
• Maintain current NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
• Certification in BLS (AHA) and ACLS required; Chemo certification with ONS preferred.
• Demonstrate proficiency in IV insertion, phlebotomy, and basic nursing skills.
