About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45-19:15 Hours per Shift: 13 Experience: 2+ years License: Current RN License Certifications: ACLS and BLS Must-Have: Stepdown experience Telemetry experience Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit. The primary patient population includes cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients. Procedures may involve open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, esophageal surgery, and abdominal aortic repairs. Other patients may include overflow medical cardiology cases for conditions such as heart failure, chest pain, and sepsis. The unit has 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds with approximately 100 staff members. Patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for Patient Care Technicians. Required equipment includes IV pumps and various lifts. Experience in managing epidurals and chest tubes, as well as familiarity with cardiac medications, is expected. Ideal candidates will be team players who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are flexible. Weekend commitments include a minimum of 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks. There is no on-call requirement. Candidates should be prepared to float to similar units as needed.
