The institution is licensed for 815 beds and has received multiple accolades for high-quality care. The facility is the region's referral center for a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and neonatal intensive care unit. This unit primarily cares for patients following cardiovascular and vascular surgeries, including open heart procedures. Additional patient populations may include overflow medical cardiology patients. The unit consists of 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds with a nursing staff of approximately 100. Patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for patient care technicians. Equipment used includes IV pumps, epidural pumps, and various patient lifts. The electronic medical record system utilized is Cerner. Candidates should possess a strong skill set in telemetry and stepdown care. Experience with cardiovascular surgery patients is preferred. The work environment is fast-paced and requires adaptability and teamwork. Weekend shifts are required, with a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule. No on-call requirements are present for this position.
