Summary Electrical Engineers and Electrical Designers are responsible for the design, coordination, documentation, and delivery of electrical building systems across varied environments. Depending on experience level, responsibilities include engineering calculations, preparing and reviewing design documents, coordinating with project teams, managing tasks or projects, providing technical leadership, mentoring, and supporting business development activities. All team members uphold a client‑centric mindset, demonstrate quality and integrity, and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and continuously learning environment. Henderson's Electrical Services Power Systems Design & Distribution Medium Voltage Design Emergency & Standby Power Generation Lighting Systems & Controls Design Lightning Protection Grounding Design Fault Current & Overcurrent Coordination Studies Arc Flash Studies Emergency Egress Illumination Solar & Wind Power Design Responsibilities Prepare design documents under supervision, including system layouts, drawings, schematics, and related documentation. Assist with engineering calculations, basic design tasks, and research on products, systems, and applicable codes. Support review of shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications and participate in field verification as directed. May participate in business development or pursuit activities under direct supervision and occasionally attend client, company, or industry events. Visit job sites for observation, learning, and professional development opportunities. Continuously seek to expand knowledge and fill gaps in industry or discipline expertise. Develop proficiency in industry‑standard software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office products. Key Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architecture) with 1 year of relevant experience, or 4 years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred. Additional certifications/alceptions aligned with the relevant technical field (e.g., BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD, etc.) preferred. Basic proficiency in engineering design, including knowledge of the A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards. Knowledge applicable to a limited range of practice, project, or program types. Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu preferred. High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand, and utilize various systems and processes. Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels clearly. Effective critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Team oriented and capable of functioning in a highly collaborative environment; willingness to lead less experienced designers. Ability to receive constructive feedback and adjust to coaching. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus.
