We work with clients that need more than activity. They need clear strategy, smart execution, and measurable business outcomes.

We are looking for a Senior Account Strategist who can own client relationships, understand the business math behind marketing decisions, and help turn strategy into execution across a variety of client accounts.

This is not a note-taking account manager role. The right person will be expected to think, lead, challenge assumptions, organize work, communicate clearly, and help clients understand what is working, what is not working, and what needs to happen next.

Role Overview

The Senior Account Strategist will be responsible for overseeing client relationships, helping guide marketing strategy, coordinating execution across internal team members, and making sure client work is tied back to meaningful business outcomes.

This person needs to understand what profitability and success look like for different types of clients. That includes understanding revenue, margins, customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, conversion rates, agency fees, media spend, and what it actually takes for a campaign or marketing program to produce a positive return.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, highly organized, comfortable managing multiple accounts, and proactive enough to move work forward without waiting to be told what to do.

Candidates with practical AI expertise will be prioritized, especially those who know how to use AI to improve research, reporting, workflow, strategy, content planning, analysis, and client deliverables without lowering quality or relying on generic output.

Key Responsibilities

Client Strategy and Relationship Management

• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned client accounts.
• Build trust with clients through clear communication, follow-through, and strategic thinking.
• Lead client calls, status meetings, recap emails, and account check-ins.
• Translate client goals into actionable marketing priorities.
• Help clients understand what success should look like, including the metrics that matter and the metrics that are mostly noise.
• Identify risks, opportunities, gaps, and next steps before the client has to ask.
• Push back professionally when a client request is not aligned with their goals, budget, or business model.

Business and Performance Strategy

• Understand the business math behind client campaigns, including revenue, profitability, margins, customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, average order value, conversion rates, media spend, and agency fees.
• Help evaluate whether marketing programs are actually driving ROI.
• Review campaign performance and connect results back to client business objectives.
• Help clients and internal teams prioritize initiatives based on impact, urgency, and likelihood of success.
• Identify when clients are overvaluing vanity metrics or underinvesting in the channels most likely to drive results.
• Work with internal specialists to recommend optimizations across paid media, email, SEO, social, PR, Amazon, and other marketing initiatives.

Execution and Project Management

• Coordinate internal teams to keep client work moving forward.
• Manage tasks, timelines, deliverables, dependencies, approvals, and follow-ups.
• Help ensure campaigns are executed accurately, on time, and in alignment with strategy.
• Maintain clear documentation around client priorities, action items, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Use project management systems to keep work organized and visible.
• Support the creation and review of client-facing reports, recommendations, briefs, presentations, and strategic plans.

Communication and Reporting

• Turn data and campaign updates into clear, useful client communication.
• Prepare client recaps that explain what happened, why it matters, and what should happen next.
• Communicate internally with enough clarity that team members understand the strategy, expectations, and deadlines.
• Write professional, concise emails and client updates.
• Keep leadership informed of client health, risks, opportunities, and potential scope issues.

AI, Tools, and Process Improvement

• Use AI tools responsibly to improve speed, quality, research, reporting, planning, and workflow.
• Identify opportunities to improve internal processes, reporting, client communication, and execution.
• Help the agency adopt smarter ways of working without sacrificing quality, accuracy, or client trust.
• Experience with ClickUp, Klaviyo, Sprout Social, Amazon Seller Central, Amazon Ads, or similar platforms is a plus, but not required.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of marketing experience, ideally in an agency, consulting, ecommerce, performance marketing, or multi-channel marketing environment.
• Must be based in or near San Diego, CA.
• Strong understanding of business fundamentals and marketing performance metrics.
• Ability to understand ROI after factoring in media spend, agency fees, fulfillment costs, margin, and other real-world business variables.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable leading client conversations and internal strategy discussions.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple accounts and deadlines.
• Self-starter who can identify what needs to happen next without waiting for step-by-step direction.
• Able to balance strategy and execution.
• Comfortable working across multiple marketing channels, even if not a hands-on specialist in each one.
• Strong judgment, accountability, and follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior agency account management, account strategy, or client strategy experience.
• Experience working with ecommerce, DTC, B2B, consumer products, sports, lifestyle, or service-based brands.
• Practical experience using AI tools to improve marketing strategy, reporting, workflow, research, or client deliverables.
• Experience with ClickUp, Klaviyo, Sprout Social, Amazon Seller Central, Amazon Ads, Google Analytics, Shopify, Meta Ads, Google Ads, or similar platforms.
• Experience reviewing campaign performance and making strategic recommendations.
• Experience building or contributing to client reports, marketing plans, campaign briefs, or growth strategies.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving small agency environment.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this role is $85,000 to $110,000 , depending on experience, skill set, and fit.

Exceptional candidates with strong agency experience, proven client strategy ability, and practical AI expertise may be considered above the posted range.
