About the Role Responsible for processing payroll, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing accounting support for a multi-entity nonprofit organization. This position ensures timely payroll administration and support for monthly financial reporting. This is a hybrid position located in downtown Sacramento requiring four days a week (Monday - Thursday) in the office; Fridays are remote. You Will Process bi-weekly payroll for employees across multiple nonprofit entities. Maintain payroll records, employee earnings, deductions, benefits, garnishments, and tax withholdings. Review and verify employee timesheets, leave balances, and payroll changes. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Prepare payroll reports and reconcile payroll-related accounts. Coordinate payroll tax filings and year-end reporting, including W-2s and other required forms. Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations monthly. Reconcile and monitor bank and investment statements monthly. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. Assist in the preparation of financial statements according to distribution schedule. Review and validate accounts payable and accounts receivable. Assist with grant reporting and tracking of program expenditures. Prepare and file property tax reports, sales tax reports, quarterly tax filings, and other reports or forms as necessary. Monitor and maintain supporting documentation in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards and audit requirements. Other duties as assigned.
