Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Dallas Medical City in the Surgery department. This full‑time position will have typical hours of Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The role is offered at a level 1, 2, or senior level based on the applicant’s experience. Why Work for Us? About the Role Under direct supervision, the Certified Medical Assistant assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. The assistant promotes efficient patient flow and provides support with exams and procedures, including administering subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated. The position also handles clinic support tasks such as clerical duties, answering phones, and maintaining physicians’ schedules, while adhering to the US Oncology Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, and Business Standards. Responsibilities Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate. Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes. Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician before treatment or procedures. Prepare and stock exam and treatment rooms and order supplies as needed. Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested. Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician. Maintain all exam and treatment room disinfection protocols. Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist. Process prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN. Inform physicians of patient reschedules and no‑shows. Perform other administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception as requested by supervisor or physician. May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision. Qualifications Level 1 High school graduate or equivalent. Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred. 0–3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant. Level 2 Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. Phlebotomy experience preferred. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Level Senior Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting. Current CPR certification required. Long‑Term Incentive Plan (LTIP) The LTIP is an incentive program that typically vests over a three‑year period and is tied to individual performance and the operational success of Texas Oncology. Awards are discretionary and based upon position, performance, and potential for future career growth. Awards are reviewed and approved during the annual compensation review and are subject to continued employment through the award payment date, governed by the written terms and conditions of the LTIP document. Physical Demands Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods, occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
