Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! This position will support the Dallas Medical City location. It is a full-time position with typical hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The role will be level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience. Responsibilities Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate. Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes. Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician before treatment or procedures. Prepare and stock exam and treatment rooms and order supplies as needed. Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested. Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by an RN or physician. Maintain all exam and treatment room disinfection protocols. Answer patient telephone calls for referrals to physicians, nurses, or pharmacists. Process prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN. Inform physician of patient reschedules and no-shows. Perform other administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, and other tasks requested by the supervisor or physician. May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision. Qualifications Level 1 High school graduate or equivalent. Certificate of graduation from an accredited medical assistant program preferred. 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. State regulations may require specific certifications. Level 2 Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. Phlebotomy experience preferred. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Level Sr Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting. Current CPR certification required. Physical Demands Requires full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Work Environment Work environment includes exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
