Apply now.2nd Shift: Monday to Friday (2:30Pm-11PM)A Brief Summary of This PositionValmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Material Controller Lead position. This position will direct all activities regarding shipping orders to meet customer requests and delivery dates. Incumbent coordinates with traffic, for extracts from the bills of lading and shipping documents to load outbound shipments. Understands all documents pertaining to storage, staging and loading. Maintains housekeeping in area, observes all safety rules to company standards. Understands and participates in accurate department inventory and move procedures. In addition to this, this position is responsible for loading outbound shipments as per shipping orders and pick sheet. Responsible for the checking of the proper identification of material being shipped by size, gauge, length, count and quality. Ability to operate the forklift, banding tools, and operates the overhead crane.Essential Functions:Gather parts, move, and load material to complete orders in an accurate and timely mannerLoading and unloading product in route to and from galvanizer, staging, and loading for shipmentThis person will load truck trailers and must know the product and the weight in order to ensure proper loadingAccurately process bills of lading, shipping orders, and other paperwork as requiredOperate various equipment including forklift, banding tools, and overhead craneAssist with cycle counts and material handling moves from staging to storageThis position is also responsible for reporting any unsafe conditions to supervisorRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)Three (3) years relevant shipping or loading experienceAbility to accurately read tape measures and micrometersAbility to stand 90% of timeAble to work outside in extreme heat or coldAble to operate forklift, overhead cranes, hand and banding toolsMust be accurate in logging inventory transactionsThe ability to work overtime when required for business needsA working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel and WordWorking knowledge of Valmont's shipping processHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These QualificationsExcellent communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skillsInitiative to resolve issues in a timely manner2 years of leadership experience in a shipping specific roleThe ability to accurately and honestly check one's own work for quality assuranceTraining in Lean Manufacturing processesMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional resultsBe able to work in fast paced high volume environmentWorking Environment and Physical Efforts:Work is performed in a shipping yard, with most of the time being spent outside exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures. The incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. This position will be exposed to all hazards located at manufacturing sites including noise, fumes, excessive heat/cold, dust, welding arc, all chemicals associated with the manufacturing areas, fire, smoke, unstable debris and confined spaces. Environment is fast-paced and demanding most of the time.The employee is frequently required to use hands to fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrist rests. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds in working with large files, binders, computer equipment and shop equipment.
