Human Resources Manager

LifeHikesis looking for an experienced Human Resources Managertoown all HRadministrative functions and ensuresmoothHRoperations.TheHRManagerwillfocus on execution and operational excellence, with the HR strategy being defined by the leadership team and CEO. Your work will span the full employee life cycle, includingrecruiting & hiring, onboarding & offboarding,employee engagement, compensation &benefits, performancemanagement, and policies & compliance. This is a part-time, contract role, with an estimated20hours of work per week to start. The contractor will determine their hours in collaboration with their manager. We expect the contractor to be on site at the LifeHikes office in Montclair at least one day a week, preferably Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Reports to: Senior Director, Operations Responsibilities 1. HR Systems & Data Management Own, organize andmaintainemployee records, including personal data, attendance records, and other HR-related documents. Own and administer HRinformation(HRIS/ATS), ensuring data accuracy, reporting, and system optimization. Prepare weeklyand quarterlyHR reportsfor various stakeholders. 2. Recruitment Manage the organization’s job posting account withJazzHR. Work with hiring managers to ensure consistency in company branding andinterviewing procedures. Manage the end-to-end applicant lifecycle,including screening resumes, conducting initial interviews, coordinating secondsubsequentinterviews, administering testing or skills assessments, presenting offer letters, andcommunicating with candidates ina timelyand professional manner. 3. Onboarding & Offboarding Leadthe onboarding process for new employees, including preparing orientation materialsfor managers,submittingbackgroundchecks, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed & filed appropriately. Sendonboardingsurveys & compile data forhiring managers. Ensure offboarding steps are taken by all team membersina timely manner,and all necessary paperwork is executed according to federal, state, and local requirements. 4. Compensationand Benefits Provide regular compensation benchmarking for all roles, in coordination with Finance Provide salary recommendations for new and replacement roles, in collaboration with Finance; final salary posting and offer decisions are the responsibility of department heads Leadthe administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits, in partnership with Justworks and other providers. 5. PerformanceManagement Maintain the annual and quarterly performance review calendar, providing templates, reminders, and an accountability structure for managers and employees. Provide managers with templated reports of their direct reports’ 360 feedback& update templates as required/requested by the Leadership team. 6. Employee Engagement& Communications Create & send quarterlyengagementsurveys& reminders. Compile dataand generatereportsfor leadership team & employees. Maintain birthday & anniversaries calendar when people are onboarded/offboarded and providetimelyemail reminders to the relevant parties. Manage HR-related internal communications including policy updates, benefits information, and employee announcements. 7. HR Compliance Support HR operations across multiple geographies, including coordination with Employer of Record (EOR) providers and Professional Employee Organizations (PEO). Ensure HR policies are kept up to date and aligned with federal, state, and local requirements. Execute core compliance processes including I-9 management, recordkeeping, audit preparation, and employee classification tracking. 8. Employee Relations Serve asa firstpoint of contact for employee relations issues, including handling routine concerns and escalating more complex matters as needed. 9. Continuous Improvement Identifyopportunities to improve HR processes andsuggestenhancementsbased on updated technologies and industry trends. Experience & skills required: At least3-5 years of experience in an HR generalist/HRBProle with a small or medium sized companyisrequired Atleast1-2 yearsofexperiencewith talentacquisitionisrequired Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills(written, verbal, nonverbal) Extremely high integrity and ability tomaintaindiscretion & confidentiality with sensitive information and circumstances Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited oversight You do some of your best work when you are in a fast-paced and evolving work environment Eager to learn and take responsibility for your own growth,knowledgeand development Strong organizational skills & attention to detail Proficiencyin MS Office applications and ability to learn new software quickly, including AI tools. HR degrees andcertifications are preferred but notrequired Compensation This is a part-time contract role. Salary will range from $45-60/hourcommensuratewith experience.
