Job Title: CNC Mill Operator Job Description

Operate CNC mills, primarily 3-axis machines, to produce precision aluminum components in a long-run production environment. This role involves interpreting blueprints, performing basic machine adjustments, conducting quality inspections, and supporting efficient, high-quality machining operations.

• Operate CNC milling machines, with a focus on 3-axis machining, to produce parts according to specifications and production schedules.
• Machine primarily aluminum materials while maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings on a daily basis to set up and run jobs accurately.
• Perform basic tool changes and adjust machine offsets to ensure optimal cutting conditions and part accuracy.
• Deburr machined parts to meet surface finish and safety requirements.
• Conduct quality checks on finished parts using inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Operate a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet inspection criteria.
• Support and participate in training on machine set ups, tool changes, and offsets as needed for long-run production.
• Work collaboratively in a machine shop environment to maintain workflow, meet production goals, and uphold safety standards.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment, and report any issues with equipment or processes.

• Minimum of 2 years of CNC operation experience in a production or machine shop environment.
• Proficiency in operating CNC mills, including 3-axis machining.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings accurately.
• Experience working with inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges for quality verification.
• Solid understanding of basic tool changes and machine offsets on CNC equipment.
• Knowledge of machining processes, particularly milling of aluminum materials.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift and work safely around moving machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate parts.

• Machining degree or formal technical education in machining or manufacturing is preferred.
• Experience with long-run production machining environments.
• Familiarity with operating a CMM machine for dimensional inspection.
• Background in lathe or other machine shop equipment is a plus.
• Comfort working with quality inspection procedures and documentation.
• Ability to learn new set up procedures, tooling strategies, and machine operations over time.

Work takes place in a clean, air-conditioned manufacturing facility that produces compact hydraulic power units incorporating motors, gear pumps, reservoirs, internal valving, load hold checks, and relief valves for industrial and mobile hydraulic applications. The role involves frequent exposure to oils, cleaners, coolants, and occasional exposure to moving parts and equipment. The environment can be loud, and hearing protection is required in designated areas. Eye protection is required in all plant work areas, and safety shoes with steel toes and slip-resistant soles are mandatory. The position requires standing for the majority of the shift while working on and around machining equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Minneapolis,MN.
