Shift: Second Shift

A day on the second shift

You clock in, review the job travelers, and pull up prints for the next run. The Okuma LB3000 is waiting. You mount tooling, touch off, set work and tool offsets, and run a careful first-article. Micrometers and calipers confirm diameters. A drop indicator checks runout. Height and thread gauges verify the details. The part matches the drawing—time to move into steady production.

Later in the evening, you transition to the LB4000 for a different lot. You change inserts, tweak offsets to hold tolerance, and keep a log of adjustments. When something drifts, you catch it early, correct it, and keep quality on track. Dependable, punctual, detail-obsessed—that’s how you and your team finish strong every shift.

What you’ll handle

Complete setups and operate Okuma LB3000 and LB4000 CNC lathes for production runs
Interpret engineering drawings to drive correct tooling and process choices
Apply and refine machine and tooling offsets; perform timely tool changes
Inspect in-process and finished parts to meet drawing specifications
Use precision metrology: micrometers, calipers, drop indicators, height gauges, and thread gauges
Maintain accuracy, document results, and uphold quality throughout the run
Show up on time and own your assignments from start to finish

What makes you successful here

Proven background setting up and running CNC lathes
Hands-on experience with Okuma LB3000 and/or LB4000
Fluency reading and applying engineering drawings
Confidence with offsets, tool presetting, and insert changes
Skilled in precision measurement and hand metrology
Consistently careful, quality-minded, dependable, and punctual
Available to work the second shift
