Kutamani Developmental Services (KDS) is launching its first Applied Behavior Analysis Early Childhood Program (ABA LBS) — a specialized, center-based ABA program for preschool-aged children (ages 2–5). This is a full-year program operating Monday through Friday at our ABA Early Childhood Center, along with sessions delivered in the home and community. The program provides intensive early intervention that supports the developmental, behavioral, and social needs of young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) so they can achieve success in age-appropriate, least-restrictive settings where they are maximally integrated with same-aged peers in natural environments.

Using the principles of ABA, the ABA Classroom Behavior Consultant (ABA Classroom LBS) leads a classroom of up to nine children at a time, with the support of two to three Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs). ABA Classroom BCs are expected to work flexible, full-time schedules that meet the needs of the clients in their assigned classroom(s). Group services are provided from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, in addition to completing a minimum of one caregiver training session for each child each month. Caregiver training may take place in the ABA classroom during program down time, in the child’s home, or in the community. The ABA Classroom BC is responsible for clinical oversight, program development, staff supervision, and ensuring the implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans aligned with best practices in ABA.

Because this is Kutamani’s first ABA LBS, the person in this role has a rare opportunity to help build the program from the ground up and make a lasting contribution to the continued growth and expansion of KDS.

DIMENSIONS

The ABA Classroom BC is a professional position in a confidential role. The position provides clinical oversight to BHTs and performs and maintains the responsibilities of a Licensed Behavior Specialist. This is a full-time, exempt, 40-hour-per-week position. Program hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM (25 hours per week); the remaining 15 hours per week are utilized for supervision, data analysis, program development, caregiver training, consultation, and administrative tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and carry items in the classroom/center throughout the program day and is expected to perform approved crisis-prevention and safety-intervention techniques (e.g., Safety-Care or an equivalent, agency-approved model) when needed. These techniques may be physical in nature, and the employee must be able to move quickly to follow, redirect, or block children who elope or are in unsafe situations.

The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, and visually monitor and scan the area around the clients they are supporting.

The employee will be required to assist with toileting, activities of daily living (ADLs), and the possible administration of prescribed medications.

Sessions may take place in various environments and weather conditions, such as parks, playgrounds, and other community locations with families.

The employee primarily works at Kutamani’s ABA Early Childhood Center and in family homes, with occasional office time. Travel is required.

This position is expected to fully support the mission, vision, and values of Kutamani Developmental Services at all times. The position of the ABA Classroom BC is subject to the requirements of the IRS, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the policies and procedures of Kutamani Developmental Services.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develops, implements, and monitors individualized treatment plans and skill-acquisition programs.

• Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and skills/adaptive assessments (e.g., VB-MAPP and the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales).

• Supervises and supports a team of BHTs and collaborates with Early Intervention (EI) providers, such as speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and occupational therapists (OTs), on shared cases.

• Monitors data collection and analysis to ensure progress toward treatment goals.

• Collaborates with families, related service providers, and school personnel to support generalization and consistency across environments.

• Trains staff in ABA methodologies, safety protocols, and classroom procedures.

• Ensures compliance with the ethical and clinical standards set by the BACB and relevant regulatory agencies.

• Maintains accurate documentation and participates in regular case reviews and team meetings.

• Completes all agency- and state-required trainings, including those related to early childhood program operations and active supervision.

• Completes assigned trainings related to managing ADLs and medication administration.

• Performs other duties as needed and/or requested.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related field.

• Active Pennsylvania Behavior Specialist License (LBS).

• LBS issued by the state of Pennsylvania is required.  

• Experience developing, implementing, and training others on ABA programs.

• Experience working with young children on the autism spectrum; early childhood experience preferred.

• Experience supervising others and delivering feedback is preferred.

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

• Ability to analyze data and make data-based decisions.

• Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and current auto insurance.

• PA Child Abuse History, PA State Police Criminal, and FBI Criminal Background clearances — held or obtainable prior to start, as required for work with children in Pennsylvania.
