About the Role

The Company is seeking an In-House Counsel to serve as General Counsel and oversee all legal matters related to its construction management and general contracting operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the work of external legal firms, as well as handling a variety of legal tasks including the drafting and negotiation of construction agreements, subcontracts, and change orders. This role also involves overseeing litigation and claims, managing insurance programs and risk, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and regulatory standards. The General Counsel will be a key player in the company's real estate, employment, and HR matters, and will work closely with the Corporate Safety Director to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should have a strong background in construction law and a proven track record in managing legal issues within the industry. The role requires a hands-on approach, with the ability to both oversee external legal teams and actively participate in legal work. A deep understanding of construction agreements, indemnity, safety, scheduling, and payment protections is essential. The ideal candidate will also have experience in real estate, employment, and HR law, and be adept at ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. A degree in law and admission to the bar is a minimum requirement, and a background in construction management or general contracting is highly beneficial.
