Locums Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

A leading cardiac surgery program in Bridgeport, Connecticut is seeking an experienced Locums Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide inpatient and operating room support. This is an excellent temp-to-hire opportunity for providers interested in transitioning to a permanent role while working alongside a highly collaborative cardiac surgery team.

Compensation:$125 Per Hour

Position Highlights

Temp-to-Hire Opportunity (for interested candidates)

Schedule: Three 13-hour shifts per week

Shift Options:

7:00 AM – 8:00 PM

7:00 PM – 8:00 AM

Rotating weekends approximately every 3–6 weeks

Collaborative team of 8 Advanced Practice Providers

Responsibilities

Provide inpatient management of cardiac surgery patients throughout the perioperative continuum

First assist in the cardiac surgery operating room, when applicable

Perform postoperative assessments and daily patient rounds

Manage chest tubes and other postoperative cardiac surgery procedures within scope of practice

Coordinate care with cardiothoracic surgeons, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams

Document patient encounters using the Epic electronic medical record

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program

Active Connecticut NP or PA license or ability to obtain

Previous inpatient cardiac surgery experience preferred

Cardiac Surgery OR first assist experience preferred, but providers with strong inpatient cardiac surgery experience are encouraged to apply

Experience with chest tube insertion and management required

Epic EMR experience preferred
