5+ years of bookkeeping experience In Public Accounting and with QuickBooks required. This is a small family CPA firm where good people are trusted, not watched. They describe flexibility a bit like a bank account. If you put the time in, get the work done and help the team when things are busy, they’ll work with you when you need some of that time back. That could mean flexibility around family commitments, appointments or just normal life. The firm is entering a new chapter as the founding Partner gradually steps back and her son takes more responsibility for the business. It’s still very much a close knit environment though. People know each other, clients know the team, and there are no billable hour targets. This is much more than just another bookkeeping role. You’ll be the go to person in the office, helping keep the day to day operation running smoothly, supporting the wider team and often being the first impression clients get when they walk through the door. Bookkeeping and admin are the biggest priorities, so you’ll need strong QuickBooks experience, handling data entry, keeping records accurate and getting everything properly prepared for tax return review. UltraTax experience would be a big plus too. You’ll also have regular client contact, help answer bookkeeping questions and work closely with the tax team throughout the year. Because the firm is small, you won’t be tucked away doing one tiny piece of the process. You’ll know your clients, understand what’s going on with their businesses and have much more visibility than you might get in a larger firm. The salary is $65,000 to $70,000 alongside health insurance, simple IRA, Christmas bonus and sometimes an additional bonus following tax season. There’s room to grow too. If you want to work towards your EA or CPA, the firm is open to supporting and reimbursing education costs. There may also be opportunities longer term to move further into tax, take on more responsibility and potentially participate in profit share.
