Cost Accountant

DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join a manufacturing team in Azusa, California. This position plays an important role in strengthening financial accuracy by evaluating production costs, inventory activity, and operational results. The individual in this role will collaborate with finance and plant partners to deliver reliable reporting, support close activities, and help leadership make informed business decisions.Responsibilities:• Manage and revise standard cost data for raw materials, direct labor, and factory overhead to keep product valuation current and accurate.• Examine production and purchasing variances, including material usage, labor efficiency, scrap, price differences, and overhead impacts, and communicate key findings to stakeholders.• Review product structures, manufacturing routings, and shop orders to confirm costing inputs properly reflect actual production processes.• Track inventory movements and perform reconciliations between inventory records and the general ledger to maintain financial accuracy.• Research stock discrepancies and work with operations and supply chain teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.• Contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting activities tied to inventory balances and cost of goods sold.• Support cycle count programs and physical inventory events by analyzing count results, reconciling differences, and documenting outcomes.• Produce scheduled and on-demand reports covering inventory valuation, manufacturing costs, and operational performance trends.• Partner with purchasing, engineering, production, and supply chain teams to improve cost reliability, reporting quality, and internal control practices.• Assist with audit requests by preparing reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation for inventory and cost-related accounts.Requirements• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.• At least 3 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.• Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and variance analysis.• Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with Made2Manage is preferred.• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence working across financial systems.• Solid understanding of month-end close procedures, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity.• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.Job typePerm
