Job Description and Duties
This position supports the California Department of Public Health's (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by supporting the Center for Health Care Quality's (CHCQ) mission to ensure health care facilities comply with State laws and regulations and meet Federal requirements when accepting Medicare and Medi-Cal payments. The Analyst II (A II) conducts onsite audits to assess compliance with direct care staffing requirements. The A III independently collects, analyzes, and interprets complex data related to healthcare facility staffing practices and applies regulations, policies, and procedures to evaluate staffing data to make critical determinations regarding facility staffing levels. The A II provides expert consultation to healthcare facilities' administration and CHCQ program personnel regarding policies and regulations including, but not limited to, the required minimum Direct Hours Per Patient Day (DHPPD) standards.
The incumbent works under the direction of the Supervisor I.
Teleworking may be available for this position, in accordance with CDPH's Telework Policy and Procedures.
In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees' monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
