Director of Special Education

The client is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Director of Special Education to oversee and enhance specialized services programming for a diverse student population. This role involves managing special education, 504 plans, English Language Learner (ELL) services, and academic and social-emotional interventions. The ideal candidate will bring strong instructional and programmatic expertise, coupled with outstanding leadership skills, to drive exceptional outcomes for students with diverse learning needs. The Director will be integral to the School Leadership Team, advocating for inclusive practices and ensuring individualized student support. Key responsibilities include the design, implementation, and refinement of specialized services to ensure strong student outcomes. The Director will coach and develop educators to provide high-quality, differentiated instruction tailored to the needs of the students, utilizing data to guide instructional decisions and targeted interventions. They will ensure that programming aligns with school-wide academic goals and will promote staff development through ongoing feedback and professional learning while staying updated on best practices in education. The position also requires leadership of all aspects related to special education systems, including compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, while maintaining student-centered service delivery. The Director will engage in adult leadership and talent development, providing valuable feedback, professional growth opportunities, and establishing accountability frameworks. Additionally, they will collaborate with school leaders and staff to cultivate an inclusive and equitable educational environment, fostering strong community relationships and addressing challenges proactively.
