Position Type Assistant Professor in Applied Psychology, Tenure-Track (Fixed Term) Salary Range $88,526 - $98,272 Purpose The Department of Psychology at Santa Clara University seeks a teacher‑scholar whose research engages psychological processes, outcomes, or interventions relevant to underserved or marginalized populations, including Latiné, Black or African American, Indigenous or Native communities, LGBTQIA+ populations, disabled or neurodivergent individuals, unhoused populations, immigrants or refugees, and others affected by structural inequities. Applicants may employ qualitative, quantitative, mixed‑methods, participatory, or community‑based approaches. Two housing assistance programs are available: rental assistance and purchase assistance for tenure‑stream faculty. Qualifications Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field by September 1, 2027. Experience with high‑quality, evidence‑based teaching and mentoring practices for undergraduate students. Demonstrated potential for effective and inclusive teaching and mentoring of a diverse undergraduate student population. Demonstrated engagement with community‑based research and/or research meaningfully involving undergraduate students in multiple stages of the research process. Responsibilities Teach lower‑ and upper‑division courses in the psychology major and the university core curriculum, including General Psychology, Statistics and Methods, and upper‑division courses in the applicant’s area of expertise. Courses are taught in a quarter system, with a typical load of two courses per quarter. Develop an active program of scholarship that aligns with departmental tenure and promotion standards, emphasizing peer‑reviewed work, community‑engaged research, and open science practices when appropriate. Engage undergraduates meaningfully in research at multiple stages, producing scholarly products that include student collaborators such as publications, conference presentations, and grant applications. Provide effective service to the department, college, university, and profession through committee work, leadership in professional organizations, and community‑engaged activities aligned with scholarly expertise.
