Registered Nurse Operating Room

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room is responsible for providing skilled nursing care during elective and emergency surgical procedures across various specialties including abdominal, thoracic, urology, ENT, plastic, orthopedics, vascular, and OB/GYN. The role requires efficient multitasking to ensure timely progression of surgical cases, collaboration with the surgical team, and participation in after-hours call services for nights, holidays, and weekends. This position demands a high level of expertise and experience in the operating room environment. Responsibilities:

• Provide perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room for a variety of surgical specialties.
• Ensure surgical cases proceed efficiently and timely throughout the day.
• Assist in preparation, monitoring, and post-operative care of patients undergoing surgery.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
• Manage surgical supplies and equipment to maintain readiness and sterility.
• Participate in after-hours call rotation to staff operating rooms during nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to surgical nursing.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN, Associate degree, or Diploma).
• Valid, current, full, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska at time of submission.
• Minimum of 3 years of Operating Room nursing experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• High school diploma or GED.

• Advanced certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
• Experience working in Critical Access Hospitals and/or rural operating room settings.

• Must participate in after-hours call services including nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Alaska RN license required at time of submission; fingerprinting and background check required prior to start.
• Travelers are responsible for their own housing and transportation arrangements.
• Start date contingent on timely submission and processing of fingerprint cards.

• Shift work including day shifts with availability required for after-hours call coverage.
• Schedule includes nights, weekends, and holiday shifts as part of call rotation.
