The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) is seeking an Administrative Assistant 3 to support the Child Care Workforce Standards Board, a Governor-appointed board bringing together leaders from across Washington's child care community to improve workforce standards and strengthen the future of child care.

This is far more than a traditional administrative role. You'll serve as the central point of coordination for a diverse group of board members, agency leaders, legislative partners, employers, workers, and community stakeholders. This position is mostly teleworking with the need to be in office for quarterly in-person meetings. The assigned duty station is Tumwater, WA.
As the Administrative Assistant supporting the Child Care Workforce Standards Board, you'll:
- Serve as the primary administrative support for a Governor-appointed board composed of representatives from Washington's child care community.
- Coordinate board meetings, public hearings, and hybrid or virtual events from planning through successful execution.
- Partner with board members, agency leadership, legislative staff, employers, workers, and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication and successful collaboration.
- Adapt your communication style to meet the needs of a wide variety of audiences, whether communicating with executives, board members, community partners, or members of the public.
- Track and manage board actions, assignments, appointments, member terms, deadlines, and follow-up items to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
- Prepare professional meeting materials, agendas, presentations, minutes, reports, and correspondence.
- Maintain board records, webpages, and official documents in accordance with public records requirements.
- Coordinate travel, reimbursements, and board member onboarding activities.
- Support special projects within the Government Affairs & Policy Division as needed.

REQUIRED - One of the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent AND Three years of clerical, office, or administrative experience.
OR
- An Associate's degree in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field may substitute for experience AND One year of clerical, office, or administrative experience.
DESIRED:

- Supporting a board, commission, task force, or executive leadership team.
- Coordinating meetings and producing accurate meeting minutes.
- Managing complex calendars, assignments, and deadlines.
- Working with diverse stakeholder groups and building collaborative relationships.
- Tracking board appointments, member terms, or governance activities.
- Preparing presentations, reports, and public-facing meeting materials.
- Using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, and SharePoint.
- Supporting legislative, governmental affairs, or public policy work.
- Responding to public disclosure requests or conducting complex administrative research.
