Clinical Documentation Principal Trainer (Epic)

The Clinical Documentation Principal Trainer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering Epic EHR training programs focused on clinical documentation workflows. This role partners with clinical informatics, application analysts, and IT teams to support provider adoption, optimize documentation practices, improve operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance patient care outcomes.

## Scope of Services / Responsibilities

- Design, build, maintain, and update training curricula for clinical documentation workflows, including provider documentation, templates, and SmartTools.

- Deliver instructor-led, virtual, and at-the-elbow training sessions to providers and clinical staff.

- Develop and maintain training materials, including manuals, eLearning modules, simulations, and quick reference guides.

- Ensure training content aligns with Epic updates, organizational standards, and regulatory requirements.

- Serve as a subject matter expert for clinical documentation workflows within the EHR environment.

- Collaborate with application analysts and clinical informatics teams to understand system design, enhancements, and workflow changes.

- Translate technical system build and configuration into effective end-user training content.

- Support go-live readiness activities, command center operations, and end-user adoption initiatives.

- Identify opportunities to improve documentation workflows through user feedback, metrics, and workflow analysis.

- Partner with Clinical Informatics teams to support optimization initiatives and standardization efforts.

- Update training strategies and materials based on application enhancements and evolving business needs.

- Promote best practices for accurate, efficient, and compliant clinical documentation.

- Participate in governance committees and workgroups related to clinical documentation.

- Provide input on documentation-related system design decisions and workflow improvements.

- Ensure alignment with enterprise documentation standards and regulatory requirements.

- Evaluate training effectiveness using surveys, assessments, proficiency measures, and performance metrics.

- Provide ongoing coaching, support, and guidance to end users.

- Maintain Epic training environments and supporting documentation.
