Job Title: CNC Turret Punch Press Operator (2nd Shift)

Pay Rate: $24.00 – $30.00 / hour

Job Type: Full-Time / Non-Union

Shift: 2nd Shift

We are seeking an experienced CNC Turret Punch Press Operator for our 2nd Shift to join our sheet metal fabrication team in an agile, fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, loading, programming, and operating CNC turret punch presses to produce high-quality sheet metal components used in custom power distribution equipment. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in sheet metal fabrication, tool selection, and precision part inspection.

• Machine Setup & CNC Operation

  • Set up, load, and operate CNC turret punch presses according to production schedules, blueprints, and engineering drawings.

  • Select, install, and align punch and die tooling in the turret stations based on sheet material specifications and job requirements.

  • Load G-code programs, perform machine offset adjustments, and verify machine parameters prior to running production runs.

  • Load sheet metal materials (steel, copper, aluminum) safely onto press loading tables.

• Fabrication & Quality Control

  • Punch, notch, and form precision sheet metal parts while maintaining strict quality standards and tolerances.

  • Inspect first-piece and in-process production using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and square tools.

  • Identify defect patterns, worn tooling, or program errors and perform necessary adjustments.

  • Deburr and clean finished parts as needed.

• Equipment Maintenance & Safety

  • Perform routine daily maintenance and inspection of turret tooling, stations, and machinery.

  • Strictly adhere to workplace safety standards, machine guarding policies, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.

  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.

• Documentation & Teamwork

  • Complete required production documentation accurately, including job logs, quality checklists, and material tracking.

  • Communicate effectively across shifts to ensure a smooth transition and maintain production flow.

  • Report equipment issues or process improvement suggestions to the shift supervisor.

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training in machining/fabrication preferred.

• Experience: 2+ years of experience operating CNC turret punch presses (e.g., Amada, Trumpf, Murata) in a sheet metal manufacturing environment.

• Technical Skills:

  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex sheet metal blueprints, flat patterns, and engineering drawings.

  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments (calipers, height gauges, micrometers).

  • Knowledge of sheet metal material types, gauges, and tooling selection.

• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, independent problem-solving skills, and ability to work efficiently during 2nd shift hours.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently.

• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and move continuously throughout an entire shift.

• Comfort working in an active industrial fabrication setting with machinery, noise, and sheet metal handling.
