Associate Materials Scientist

Eurofins seeks an Associate Materials Scientist to perform solid-state characterization and particle analysis of pharmaceutical drug candidates in Groton, CT. The role involves supporting crystallization and polymorph screening activities, conducting physical characterization using analytical techniques, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct solid-state characterization of pharmaceutical small molecules using powder diffraction, thermal analysis, and spectroscopy
• Support multidisciplinary teams in crystallization, polymorph, salt, and co-crystal screening activities
• Perform particle size, shape, and surface characterization of pharmaceutical powders
• Collaborate with medicinal chemistry and formulation teams to define characterization strategies for solid form selection
• Maintain accurate and contemporaneous electronic laboratory notebook records

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 2+ years experience or Master's degree in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, or chemical engineering
• Experience with solid-state characterization techniques such as X-ray powder diffraction, DSC, TGA, and microscopy
• Strong background in pharmaceutical API and small molecule testing for drug production
• Understanding of physical, analytical, and organic chemistry fundamentals
• Strong data analysis, communication, and independent problem-solving skills
• Experience with infrared spectroscopy (FTIR, NIR, FT-Raman) or solid-state NMR preferred
