Senior Scientist in particulate materials characterization & digital sciences

Senior Scientist position in the Drug Product Design & Supply organization focused on advancing manufacturing science for solid oral dosage forms. The role combines particulate materials characterization with digital sciences and artificial intelligence to support pharmaceutical development and process understanding.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of innovative characterization methods for drug substances, excipients, and drug products across particulate to bulk scales
• Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning to characterize materials and enable predictive understanding of material behavior
• Develop and implement automated high-throughput characterization workflows integrated with digital laboratory and robotic platforms
• Collaborate with process modelers and data scientists to establish experimental pipelines supporting model-informed drug product development
• Communicate scientific findings through technical reports, presentations, publications, and patents

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field with 0-3 years experience; or MS with 7-9 years industrial experience
• Demonstrated expertise characterizing powders, particulate materials, granular systems, or complex materials
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with complex experimental datasets
• Record of scientific publications, presentations, patents, or technology development
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Experience with AI, machine learning, or advanced data-science tools (preferred)
• Programming skills in Python, R, MATLAB, or similar languages (preferred)

Compensation: $93,600–$156,000 base salary
