Senior Scientist Mass Spectrometrist

Senior Scientist Mass Spectrometrist position within Pfizer's Pharmaceutical Sciences division in Groton, Connecticut. The role focuses on structure elucidation of drug candidates and impurities using advanced mass spectrometry, supporting pharmaceutical development from discovery through commercialization.
Responsibilities
- Elucidate chemical structures and address scientific questions using high-resolution mass spectrometry
- Collaborate with cross-functional scientific teams including chemists, spectroscopists, and purification scientists
- Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance to ensure timely project execution
- Investigate and implement innovative mass spectrometry approaches for pharmaceutical development support
- Author technical documents and present findings internally and externally
Requirements
- B.S./M.S. in chemistry with 9-11 years mass spectrometry experience, or M.B.A./M.S. with 7-8 years, or Ph.D. with 0-3 years
- Strong theoretical knowledge of mass spectrometry and its pharmaceutical applications
- Demonstrated experience elucidating structures of small molecules and/or peptides
- Proficiency with HRMS systems, particularly Thermo Orbitrap instruments
- Hands-on experience with MS data analysis software including Thermo Freestyle, ACD/Labs, BioPharma Finder
- Fundamental understanding of organic chemistry principles
- Ability to work independently on complex problem-solving and research initiatives
Compensation: $93,600-$156,000 base salary, 12.5% bonus target
