Summary
Why it's a great opportunity: In this role you will be the technical expert for the Office of the County Engineer design and bridge teams. You will review and create all technical training for the Division's Civil Engineers in regard to engineering related workflows on design engineering issues and project delivery processes supporting consistent and efficient processes. This will include drafting, software installations, licensing, seeking out and incorporating new technologies, contracting, and other software training. The software training you will provide will include AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Civil 3D, Autodesk, and other internally developed programs to streamline drafting tasks and improve drawing performance. You will be responsible for maintaining, refining, and enforcing CAD standards to ensure high-quality, accurate, and compliant engineering graphics and plan sets, while heading quality control efforts. You will also analyze and improve design workflows through automation, custom tools, optimized configurations, advanced CAD technologies, and collaborate with IT to support advanced technical requirements for CAD and engineering software systems, collaborating with IT to support advancing requirements for CAD and engineering software systems. Doing so will allow you to review project plan sheets and drawings, develop best practices, implement standard drawings and develop project and CAD standards for use. Standardizing and training leadership on this will ensure compliance with industry standards including Local, State, and the County Road Administration Board.

- Reviews and recommends changes to consulting engineer prepared plans to meet County standards.
- Studies, analyzes, and prepares engineering-related reports as required by state, federal and local authorities.
- Reviews and recommends changes to consulting engineer prepared plans to meet County standards.
- Plans, coordinates, and manages development of systems for the County including administration of contracts and agreements with consultants.
- Coordinates specific capital improvement project planning efforts on behalf of the County and interfaces with other agencies or municipalities.
- Coordinates with other sections, divisions, departments, community groups, or elected officials regarding current and future needs and requirements.
- Maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance during regularly scheduled work hours at assigned work site.
- A bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited program in civil engineering, or a closely related field, may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis, up to four years.
- Registration as an Engineer-in-Training.
- Seven years of progressively responsible experience related to the position is required.
