Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Oncology – North Carolina

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, Night shift (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), Every other weekend required, Call required if called off on a prescheduled shift, Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations

Highlights:

• Specialized oncology unit caring for patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy
• Comprehensive onsite training and support for chemotherapy certification (ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration)
• Contract length: 13-26 weeks available
• Patient ratio: 1:6
• Electronic systems: EPIC charting, PYXIS medication management, SBAR communication
• 24-hour orientation (2 shifts) with supportive team environment
• Free access to oncology and chemotherapy education courses eligible for CEUs
• First-time travelers accepted

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
• BLS certification required
• 2 years of inpatient nursing experience required
• ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration certification preferred (or willingness to obtain before or during assignment)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Experience with Med/Surg, accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, heparin and insulin administration, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Ability to work Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster situations
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Patient Population & Diagnoses:

• General medical-surgical patient population with oncology focus
• Administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection
• Common diagnoses include cancer, malignant neoplasms, sepsis, septic shock, acute kidney injury (AKI), acute renal failure (ARF), diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), pain management, encephalopathy, diabetic foot ulcers, and overdose cases
• Management of heparin drips and insulin drips

• Pre-start online modules required (approximately 8-10 hours, non-billable)
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
