Service Technician

The primary schedule for this position is nights and will include weekends. Performs a variety of duties related to the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and/or underground distribution systems, transmission facilities, and street light systems to provide continuous and dependable electric service to customers. Investigates service problems and takes necessary actions to facilitate service restoration under normal conditions or unusual occurrences and outages.

Level of responsibility includes performing varied tasks and projects directly related to craft trade. Gathers and analyzes relevant information to develop and implement the best course of action to ensure job is successfully completed in a safe manner. Often works under minimal or no supervision. Resolves most questions and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher level. Resolves problems through mastery of craft, trade knowledge and principles. Follows established Operating Procedures, Operating Practices and Approved Work Methods to accomplish requirements of job. Possesses career level knowledge to successfully perform job.

Essential functions include climbing poles, setting poles and stringing wire, utilizing and operating equipment (e.g., aerial bucket trucks, and other construction equipment), materials, and manpower in a safe, efficient and effective manner. Perform substation and operating duties as operating feeder control devices and transmission/distribution switching. Operates a variety of electronic and other test equipment with a high degree of efficiency. Constructs and maintains overhead and underground distribution or transmission systems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements include completion of the OGE Apprentice Program (through OGE Apprentice step 25-9); or high school diploma/GED and 1 year of equivalent Journey Lineman experience (i.e., Electric Utility certified Journeyman Lineman).

Working conditions require wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). May be required to work under hazardous conditions. Required to operate motor vehicle safely in all traffic, weather and light conditions. Successfully complete Lineman and Switching Schools under the Apprentice Program. Maintains or obtain all required certifications (e.g., Class A Switching, Confined Space). Exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather. Required to work non-standard work schedules to include overtime, weekends, holidays, and call-outs. Required to work with voltages up to 34.5 kV. Required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet.

Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs and carrying up to 50 lbs. Special safety requirements include driving a single vehicle, or a truck and trailer combination weighing over 10,001 lbs. Handling, packaging, processing, storage, disposal or transport of hazardous materials; operation of equipment, machinery or power tools; repairing, maintaining or monitoring the performance or operation of any equipment, machinery or manufacturing process, the malfunction or disruption of which could result in injury or property damage; performing firefighting duties; extraction, compression, processing, manufacturing, handling, packaging, storage, disposal, treatment or transport of potentially volatile, flammable, combustible materials, elements, chemicals or any other highly regulated component; operation, maintenance or oversight of critical services and infrastructure including but not limited to, electric utilities, power generation or distribution.

Knowledge, skills and abilities include ability to handle multiple tasks. Strong knowledge and understanding of utility lighting systems. Computer skills with knowledge of MS-Office Suite (e.g., Outlook). Knowledge of basic math. Mechanical skills and familiarity working with mechanical equipment (e.g., aerial bucket trucks, construction equipment). Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to adjust and adapt across varied working conditions. Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to safety requirements and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Demonstrated ability to understand equipment, systems, and processes. Demonstrated ability to use common purpose hand tools and other materials of various craft trades. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and professionally with team members, leaders, and customers. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnosis problems, and resolve complex issues effectively. Demonstrated ability to learn and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing. Demonstrated ability to schedule own work. Demonstrated ability to climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of electrical principles. Demonstrated ability to work alone or with co-workers.

Licenses and certifications include required certifications/licensures: (Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with DOT certification). Health and safety (medical/DOT requirements) include DOT Drug Test / Physical, DOT Driver Qual History - 7 years, Job Specific Physical Assessment. This position is classified as a Safety-Sensitive Job under state law. Individuals in this position are subject to the terms and conditions set forth in OGE Energy Corp.'s Drug Testing Plan.

Salary range $85,259 - $113,693
