Med/Surg RN (5S Unit) – Quick Screening Summary

Shift: 12-hour Days or Nights (7A–7P / 7P–7A)
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend (Sat/Sun)
Charting: Epic
Scrub Color: Royal Blue
Radius Rule: 50 Miles (Driver's License required with submission)

Must-Have Requirements

✅ Active RN License
✅ BLS Certification
✅ Recent Med/Surg experience
✅ Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
✅ Comfortable caring for cardiac, respiratory, renal, orthopedic, and oncology patients
✅ Experience with EKGs and aerosol treatments for non-vented patients
✅ Unexpired Driver's License included with submission

Unit Details

• Typical Ratios: 1:5–6
  • Occasionally 1:7 based on census/acuity
• Charge Nurse on every shift
  • Days: No patient assignment
  • Nights: Takes patient assignment
• CNAs available on all units
• RT available in-house 24/7
• IV Team available:
  • Weekdays until 10 PM
  • Weekends until 3:30 PM
• 24/7 In-house Pharmacy with Accudose

• CHF
• Chest Pain
• Post-Cardiac Cath
• COPD
• Pneumonia
• Chronic Renal Disease
• Orthopedic Patients
• Oncology Patients
  • Chemo administered by permanent staff only

Floating

• May float to similar Med/Surg units
• If floated to Critical Care, traveler will only take Med/Surg or Step-Down appropriate patients
