Controller | Specialty Subcontractor | Fort Worth Area We're working with a well established specialty contractor based in Fort Worth that has a massive footprint across Texas supporting commercial, industrial, and institutional projects from inception through service and maintenance. The Role You'll be joining the team as a highly analytical and experienced Controller to lead the day-to-day corporate financial operations while maintaining direct oversight of our project-based accounting functions. Reporting directly to the executive team, you will manage standard corporate accounting while acting as the strategic financial link to our project management teams in the field. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who is equally comfortable closing the corporate books, managing cash flow, and driving a rigorous monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) and job cost review process. What You'll Be Doing Lead day-to-day corporate accounting (GL, AP, AR, payroll, cash flow) and drive a timely month end and year end close process. Own the monthly WIP schedule, collaborating with project teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and analyze margin variances. Conduct project cost auditing, monitoring labor productivity, material spend, change orders, and estimated costs to complete. Supervise, mentor and develop the administrative and accounting team to maintain efficient financial workflows. Ensure strict adherence to Texas construction tax laws, lien regulations, AIA progress billings, and coordinate external CPA tax and audit filings. What You'll Bring Significant experience in construction accounting, with at least 3+ recent years in a Controller or leadership position within the construction, engineering, or specialty subcontracting sectors. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred. Very good knowledge of percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, construction job costing, and standard corporate GAAP accounting. Strong expertise in construction ERP software and advanced proficiency in Excel. Experience and ability to act as a collaborative manager who can confidently enforce financial discipline with field operations while supporting executive level decision making. Package Base salary circa $85,000 - $105,000 with bonus incentives. Full benefits including healthcare, 401(K), PTO.
