About the Role

The Company is seeking a Board Member with a focus on Finance, Legal, and Governance to join its international team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in upholding the highest standards of transparency and accountability, particularly in the areas of financial oversight, risk assessment, and compliance. This includes providing guidance on the development of financial systems, ensuring financial controls are in place, and overseeing the regranting risk and due diligence framework. The role also involves offering legal and regulatory guidance, strategic financial planning, and contributing to the development of a strong governance framework. The ideal candidate will have a senior executive background in finance, law, audit, or governance, with a strategic mindset and a commitment to the mission and values of the organization. Key responsibilities for the Board Member include participating in the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee, and potentially chairing it, as well as contributing to a positive board culture and functioning. The candidate should have a proven ability to design or oversee financial controls, risk frameworks, and compliance systems, and a background in international finance with an understanding of global funding mechanisms. Strong ethical standards, a commitment to good governance, and a collaborative spirit are essential. While not mandatory, prior experience as a board member or trustee, particularly in philanthropic organizations, private sector companies, or international nonprofits, is considered an asset. The role is remote and requires a time commitment of 1-1.5 days per month.
