Manager, Contract Logistics (1st Shift) - City of Industry CA

Overview Under the direction of a General Manager, the incumbent manages one or more cost centers and works with supervisory and warehouse personnel. The Operations Manager is a team builder who manages daily warehouse activities, including personnel scheduling, supervision, and efficient use of space, equipment, building, and personnel. The role serves as the key interface and coordinator between warehouse and office operations and applies the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model to improve business processes, increase proficiency, and eliminate waste while meeting corporate values and objectives. Responsibilities Labor Management/Leadership Directs warehouse supervisory personnel to achieve prescribed objectives. Matches skills and background of personnel to work requirements. Provides timely performance feedback to direct reports and conducts formal reviews per company guidelines. Promotes employee development through in‑house training, goal setting, and achievement feedback. Takes corrective disciplinary measures via a progressive and well‑documented discipline program. Customer Service Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with all customers and work teams. Audits operations to ensure service standards are met and provides customer service training for front‑line personnel. Solicits customer feedback and may support sales efforts by providing required operations data. Safety Develops, implements, and directs programs to ensure the safety of all personnel to meet company and federal regulations. Reports all work‑related injuries to upper management immediately, files appropriate reports, and seeks medical attention as needed. Promotes safety awareness, conducts safety inspections, and takes necessary corrective actions to maintain compliance with city, state, and federal regulations. Operations, Facilities and Equipment Plans and manages the effective utilization of space to meet cost and service standards. Monitors ongoing compliance with company standards and customer product requirements. Develops and implements an effective product locator system, updating as needed. Creates procedures to ensure efficient operation and utilization of all warehouse equipment, monitors cleanliness, and oversees repairs, adjustments, or replacements as needed. Develops an equipment maintenance schedule. Shipping/Receiving/Inventory Control Plans and schedules all distribution services, including receiving, storage, staging, and shipping, in an efficient and economical manner that meets customer requirements. Directs inventory control procedures to ensure asset security and prevent damages or loss. Maintains cycle count programs, audits inventory accuracy, and prepares month‑end reports as required. Financial May participate in the preparation of budget, revenue projections, and account analysis. Interprets financial information on the P&L statements. Experience General Experience Knowledgeable in warehouse management and operations, including proper use and maintenance of equipment. Managerial Experience 2–3 years of management/supervision experience. Compensation The typical starting salary range for this position is $90,000 – $115,000. The actual offer will be based on skills, experience, education and location. Salary listed is base only and does not include total compensation such as bonuses and benefits. Hybrid employees must report to the office 8 days per month, scheduled by their supervisor. Warehouse roles are typically fully on‑site. Candidates outside the 25‑mile radius may be considered for fully remote roles, depending on business needs. Remote work requires full compliance with company policies, including workspace standards, timekeeping, and communication protocols. Commuting costs are not reimbursed; adherence to this policy is a condition of employment.
