We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Executive Chef to lead the culinary team for an exciting new upscale classic Italian restaurant opening in Wayne, PA. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate culinary leader to help shape the identity of a destination restaurant from the ground up.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in elevated Italian cuisine and luxury hospitality. They will have a proven ability to build exceptional teams, develop thoughtful menus, maintain uncompromising standards, and create memorable dining experiences for guests.
This role requires a hands-on culinary leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is excited by the opportunity to create something truly special within the Wayne dining community.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading all culinary operations, including menu development, kitchen execution, food quality, and team performance
- Creating and executing a refined menu that blends authentic Italian influences
- Developing seasonal offerings featuring premium ingredients, handmade pastas, fresh seafood, prime steaks, and thoughtfully crafted accompaniments
- Establishing culinary standards, recipes, plating specifications, and operational procedures
- Recruiting, training, mentoring, and inspiring a talented culinary team
- Fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and hospitality
- Overseeing daily kitchen operations while maintaining consistency and efficiency
- Managing food costs, labor costs, inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships
- Partnering with restaurant leadership to achieve financial goals and operational success
- Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Acting as a culinary ambassador for the restaurant and contributing to its long-term growth and reputation
Qualifications include:
- 7+ years of progressive culinary leadership experience, including Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or similar senior-level role
- Experience in high-end Italian restaurants or fine dining concepts strongly preferred
- Proven success in opening and operating upscale restaurants
- Strong understanding of Italian culinary traditions, premium proteins, and luxury dining standards
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing culinary teams
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing food and labor costs
- Passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences
- Ability to thrive in a demanding, detail-oriented environment
