The Admissions Units serve as the hospital’s entry point for new patients. Patients are transferred from acute care hospitals, correctional facilities, and the emergency department or the community. The goals of these units are targeted towards stabilization of acute symptoms, diagnostic clarification, and determination of the most appropriate level of care and discharge disposition.As a Psychiatrist at MPC, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered, and recovery- focused treatments to individuals with mental health symptoms 18 years of age or older; including:• Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions• Overseeing an average caseload of 8 - 13 individuals• Creating treatment plans including medication management• Obtaining and reviewing appropriate laboratory tests and consulting with members of treatment team as needed• Providing individual and group psychotherapy• Leading a weekly medication education group• Managing acute crisesAbout MPC:MPC is a comprehensive, community-based mental health facility serving individuals who are 18 years or older, from the Manhattan and Greater NYC Region. Minimum Qualifications : Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
