High-Risk Cardiology Charge Nurse Team Lead - $36-58 per hour

Job Title Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit Charge Nurse (RN) Location & Type Saint Louis, Missouri. Ongoing. Staff RN. Job Description Our High‑Risk Cardiology unit is vital to the flow of patients being admitted from the ED, CCU, admitting, procedural areas, other units within the hospital, and even outside hospitals. Our 32‑bed unit is covered by Hospitalist Attendings with a cardiology consult. Together, they collaborate closely to care for a variety of cardiac illnesses including CAD, HTN, Chest Pain, Pacemaker/ICD implants and malfunctions, Arrhythmias, Heart Failure, Valve Disease, and Pulmonary Hypertension. Our nurses obtain BLS, ACLS, and extensive EKG certifications. Under the direction of the manager, the Charge Nurse plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the unit on a designated shift. The Charge Nurse performs direct patient care as needed and functions as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff. The Charge Nurse assesses, plans, evaluates, and documents the nursing process of the assigned unit as needed. Responsibilities Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory care setting. Critically assess patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establish consults to the interprofessional team as appropriate. Leads the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care. The plan of care reflects application of expert holistic clinical knowledge and skill to anticipate and prioritize complex care needs, anticipate barriers, incorporate interprofessional team and caregiver/family input, and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes. Actively utilizes and champions scientific inquiry for evidence‑based practices (e.g., participates in journal club, facilitates practice change based on new knowledge, recommends new standards of care or revisions to current standards, conducts a literature search to support unit or organizational goals, disseminates new knowledge obtained from relevant conference or continuing education). Explores opportunities to advance nursing practice (e.g., supports a community service health event as a representative of the healthcare profession, patient/family education group, community advisory board, member of Ethics Advisory Committee, serves as adjunct faculty, or sits on a leadership board in a specialty organization). Analyzes gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership to enhance safe patient care. Leads the evaluation of the patient and family experience and adjusts care provided to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Experience: 2–5 years nursing experience. Licenses & Certifications: RN.
