About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization in Falls Church, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to expand their technical skills, take on additional responsibilities, and grow within a collaborative accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions in accordance with established accounting procedures.
- Support financial reporting and maintain accurate accounting records.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to improve processes and support daily financial operations.
- Take on additional accounting responsibilities as experience and technical skills develop.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively.
- Eagerness to learn, develop professionally, and take on increasing responsibilities.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary up to $80,000.
- Generous retirement benefits, including a 12% employer 401(k) contribution, with the ability to receive an additional 6%
