In this exciting role, you will proactively manage assigned direct material categories, including critical component parts and raw materials, from a global supply base. This role is responsible for developing strategic supplier relationships, ensuring supply continuity in support of Daikin Applied’s growth plans, ensuring premier quality and on time delivery, driving ongoing competitive costs, identifying new and differentiable technologies, and enabling new product development. Come be a part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive our every endeavor!Location: Hybrid - Plymouth, MNWhat you will do:Negotiate supply agreements and ensure vendor relations are solidCounter price increase demands and prepare strategies for various commoditiesCreate opportunities for CIP savings and deliver year over year cost savingsAct as negotiator when supply deliveries defaultUnderstand the cost structures of the supplier baseEnsure the New Product Introduction (NPI) projects are fully support with procurement rolesLead product development activities with key suppliersIdentify/develop strategic OEM supplier relationshipsReview bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authorityManage cost reduction programs consistent with Daikin Applied’s business plan.Confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery scheduleSelect products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining itemsEstimate values according to knowledge of market priceDetermine method of procurement such as direct purchase or bidPrepare purchase orders or bid requestsMaintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventoriesDiscuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, suppliers, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective actionMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Economics, Engineering, or Finance)Master’s degree in business, supply chain, or engineering preferred6-8 years of sourcing/procurement experience or equivalent4+ years people leadership experienceExperience with domestic and international sourcing and supplier managementExperience creating and implementing category strategiesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsStrong relationship-management and communication skillsBias for action; adaptable in a dynamic environmentWork visa sponsorship is not availableDaikin Applied offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements:Multiple medical insurance plan options + dental and vision insurance401K retirement plan with employer matchPaid time off and company paid holidaysPaid sick time in accordance with the federal, state and local lawTuition Reimbursement after 6 months of continuous serviceThe typical pay rate for the position ranges from $ 90,000 - $153,300 +10% bonus in Minnesota.
